Thoughts on Bob Brookmeyer

What stood out about Bob Brookmeyer was his constant pursuit of the unknown. He sounded younger with each passing album, especially since the early 80s as Europe became his base for consolidating and documenting  the musical ideas he'd been formulating over the previous 30 years - while retaining one of the busiest jazz careers in the US. He was a student of his craft, a dedicated servant of musical artistry whose documented work and contribution as a teacher are testament to the special qualities he brought to the broad scope of jazz and composed music. A worthy artistic giant of our times. www.bobbrookmeyer.com
